I apologize to the nice people at the Pequabuck Duck Race, which was held in the village of Forestville this weekend.
My friend Toby said it was not his intention to enter an actual duck painted yellow (using a roller and house paint) instead of the toy rubber duck that was expected in the competition.
The problem was my neighbor Mr. Biggs had told Toby that winning the Pequabuck Duck Race was a sure-fire way to a career in duck racing. Toby thought it might be cool to list professional duck racer on his taxes, and made a mistake in judgement.
Also, no ducks were harmed, as water-based paints were used.
