Nessie

Ever since I was a little boy, I have been fascinated by the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. “Nessie” – as she is known to friends and colleagues – is likely a dinosaur-type creature with a serpent’s neck, who has evaded detection in the cold, dark, Scottish waters for a few million years. Now it is true that the …

Postcard from North Korea

As you may know by now, I love writing and mailing letters.  There is something magical about correspondence. Every day I dash down to the post office to check my box and see if anyone has mailed me anything. Recently I received a postcard from a friend in North Korea. He really loves it there. My neighbor Mr. Biggs told …

Learning New Things

I was supposed to write an article about the basketball player, Larry Bird. However, the only NBA team I like is the Harlem Globetrotters, so I don’t know anything about Larry Bird. When I mentioned this to my neighbor Mr. Biggs, he said I should watch the movie, “Bird” (which was directed by Clint Eastwood) and I would learn all …

It’s very cold.

The temperature in Forestville is something like ninety-five (95) degrees below sub-zero.  I asked Toby to go outside to mail some letters for me. I found him a half-hour later, still fifteen (15) feet from the mailbox. He looked like this: Hopefully Toby will be thawed out by 8pm.  A repeat of Almost Human is on!

Sherlock Snipps

This is great news, and paves the way for my long anticipated mystery novel featuring Sherlock Snipps, his trusty sidekick, Dr. Toby, and his arch nemesis Moriarty, who I will call Mr. Biggs.

Nuclear Fun Day is Coming!

I wrote to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and suggested we should have a special day set aside for celebrating the cataclysmic power of nuclear energy.  They said, “no.” But I decided to do it anyway. Therefore I have decreed January 15th of every year to officially be known as Nuclear Fun Day!  Everyone is encouraged to gather round the …

Status Update: Survived Friday the 13th now facing killer storm

I am happy to report that I am not dead. However, all that may change as I now must face down a winter storm set to batter the tiny village of Forestville. I have my supplies of food, water, and board games moved into my bunker. Mr. Biggs has warned me to watch out for marauders and Yeti. Heavy snow …

Forestville Holiday Tree Lighting

I have decided to organize this year’s holiday festivities all by myself. I have invited people who are important to me and also have beautiful singing voices, because we will be caroling after the tree lighting. Here is the poster promoting the event.
